Azithromycin is an antibiotic that is commonly used to treat a range of bacterial infections, including respiratory infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis, skin and soft tissue infections, ear infections, and sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea and chlamydia. Additionally, it can also be used to treat Lyme disease and certain other types of infections. Azithromycin is available in tablet, oral suspension, and injectable forms, and is usually taken for a course of treatment ranging from 5 to 14 days, depending on the type and severity of the infection.
